In a horse’s world, the rules are clear, easy to understand and dealt with swiftly when challenged. Nature provides them with instincts and senses that are very astute. For their mere survival, a wild horse must be aware of their surroundings and quick to react. Horses are tough and steadfast dance partners; they don’t judge, but they don’t forget. They don’t let you cheat and their feedback is honest and instant.
Why do we work with a prey animal?
There is no pushing around these teachers. Our participants will have to step up because if a horse doesn’t have a leader, they will become the leader.
Our teachers are 1200-1500 lbs.
This means their senses are highly astute. They can hear our heart beat and they will react the slightest changes within a team - allowing facilitators to find those “teachable moments.”
They are a prey animal.
Herds to horses are just like teams to people. Horses require a leader that they trust and respect, just like we need in life. This gives us the ability to parallel everything that happens to real life so the learning sticks!
They are just like us - sort of.
Horses don’t overthink a participant’s motive but horses do challenge their behaviour and leadership. By understanding why and how horses are aware of our every movement, you will come to know how effective these interactive skills development programs are to finding success.
Force does not equate to movement.
Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) is a learner based educational experience with horses. More specifically, Equine Assisted Learning is an effective approach to human development that encourages individual and team growth. Participants engage in objectively driven exercises and find themselves learning valuable life skills in a fun and exciting atmosphere while working with horses. This has proven to be effective, powerful, positive, educational, and creative. Force’s program emphasizes its BuildingBlock™ curriculum of facilitating life skills through positively reinforced interaction with horses. Experiential learning exercises are developed to encourage self confidence through validated, hands-on experiences. Unbridled Strides offers programs for individuals impacted by PTSD, Depression/Anxiety, ASD, as well as positive team building workshops for corporations and families.
